Future R&D for Smart Trailer System

- Moving Object Detection (MOD)

The MOD system is designed to identify and alert the driver to any moving objects around the vehicle. This includes pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.

Utilizing the cameras around the vehicle, the system continuously scans the surroundings. When a moving object is detected, the system provides visual and audible alerts to the driver, enhancing awareness and reducing the risk of accidents, especially in busy areas such as parking lots or intersections.

- Pedestrian Detection System (PDS)

The PDS specifically focuses on identifying pedestrians near the vehicle to prevent accidents and enhance safety for both the driver and pedestrians.

Using advanced image processing algorithms, the system recognizes human shapes and motions. If a pedestrian is detected in the vehicle’s path or dangerously close, the system alerts the driver through visual and audible warning. In some systems, it may even engage automatic braking to avoid collision.

- Parking Line Detection (PLD)

The PLD assists drivers in accurately aligning their vehicle within parking spaces, ensuring correct positioning and reducing the chances of parking-related mishaps.

The system uses the vehicle’s cameras to identify parking lines on the ground. It provides real-time guidance on the information screen, showing the trajectory of the vehicle and suggesting corrections to help the driver park precisely between the lines.

- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

The LDW helps prevent unintentional lane departures, which can lead to accidents, especially at high speed.

Cameras monitor the land markings on the road. If the system detects that the vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane without using the turn signal, it triggers an alert. This warning allows the driver to correct the vehicle’s path and stay safely within the lane.

- Side Lane Departure Warning (SLDW)

The SLDW extends the functionality of LDW by focusing on the vehicle’s side lanes, providing additional safety when changing lanes or merging.

Similar to LDW, SLDW uses side-mounted cameras to monitor lane boundaries. If the vehicle begins to stray into an adjacent lane without signaling, the system alerts the driver. This is particularly useful on highways where lane changes occur frequently.

- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

The FCW is designed to prevent frontal collisions by warning the driver of an impending crash with a vehicle or obstacle ahead.

The system uses a combination of cameras and sensors to monitor the distance and relative speed of objects in front of the vehicle. If it calculates that a collision is imminent, it issues an urgent alert to the driver, giving them time to take evasive action. In some advanced systems, it may also activate emergency braking to mitigate or avoid the collision.
